Welcome Dr. Monty Hale

Interim Preacher

    We are happy to have Dr. Monty Hale as the Interim Preacher for First Baptist Church!
    Dr. Monty Hale is Director of the Association and Pastoral Ministries Office of the South Carolina Convention. His duties at the Convention include: assisting pastors and churches in transition, developing projects and initiatives to promote healthy leaders, coordinating the work of Leadership On-Line learning community, and assisting churches with effective conflict resolution. He also serves as the liason between the state convention and the forty-two associations in South Carolina with Directors of Missions in strategy planning and leadership development.
    Prior to joining the SCBC staff in April 2005, Dr. Hale served as Leadership Development Specialist for the Missouri Baptist Convention. He has also served as a pastor for various Baptist churches in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri.
    He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, Oklahoma as well as Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, Missouri.
    Monty and his wife, Cindy, have one grown daughter, Mindy, who presently lives in Texas.
    Dr. Monty Hale's responsibilities will include preaching on Sunday mornings and meeting with the church staff once per month. All other pastoral duties will continue to be performed by our church staff.

The Senior Pastor Search Committee continues to avidly seek God to lead us to the man He is preparing to be the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Sumter. We as a church pray that during this interim period God would sustain us, grow us, prepare us, and do immeasurably more than we can imagine.
